What if I don’t know how to cook or I’m not very good at it?
No problem! Everything comes with easy-to-follow directions; no prior cooking experience is necessary. As long as you can follow the menu directions, you can create a wonderful meal. Each dish lists the recommended cooking option: oven, cooktop, grill, crockpot, or microwave.
What do I need to bring with me when I pick up my order?
You’ll need a large cooler or laundry basket to transport your meals home. But, no worries if you forget as we have bags for you, as well.
How many people will each entree feed?
Each FULL entrée typically feeds four to six adults, and each HALF entree feeds two to three adults, depending on the appetite. A FULL entrée equals six pieces of protein (chicken breast, pork chop, etc.) that are 5 oz. each, while a HALF entrée equals three pieces of protein.
We recommend a family of four orders a HALF if the children are under the age of 10 years old.
For families of four with older children, we recommend ordering either a FULL entrée or ordering a “BUMP,” which is a HALF portion with an additional piece of protein.
What is the average cost of the meals?
Meals are all priced a la carte. FULL entrees range from $22.99 to $39.99, and HALF entrees range from $12.99 to $19.99. Prices are all based on ingredients.
Do you have any solutions for single people?
We offer Switchin’ Kitchens Single Serves, which are specifically designed for singles. Single Serves are perfect for senior citizens with smaller appetites, for kids after school or before evening practices and games, for individuals working from home or in offices with microwaves, and for picky eaters who won’t eat the family meal.
We also offer three to four varieties of quesadillas that are sold with three to four per order, which can be cooked individually.
Are the meals kid-friendly?
We do our best to make sure all of our meals are family-friendly. Every entree is taste-tested to ensure its quality and we strive to offer a wide variety of meals on our menu each month so you have options.
In our monthly entrée category, you can request a change in an entree to suit your taste. Don’t like mushrooms? We can leave them out. Allergic to onions? We’ll leave those out too! On a low salt diet? We can cut it in half or omit it all together. Garlic lover? We can kick it up a notch.
The only time we would not recommend a change is when the integrity of a meal is compromised. For example: omitting the mustard in a honey mustard sauce.
Can I make a change to the entree anytime I want?
Unfortunately, the only category we can change is the monthly entrée group. All other categories are made in large batches and are flash frozen to ensure quality.
Will my order be fresh or frozen when I pick it up?
Items from our entrée menu will be fresh, with the exception of fish and shrimp entrees which will be frozen. All other categories will be frozen when you pick up.
What if someone in my family has food allergies?
Please let us know of any food allergies when you place your order. Many of our recipes contain common food allergens like milk, nuts, soy, and wheat so knowing your specific needs will help us serve you as we can adjust accordingly. We can also supply you with a list of each entrees ingredients for your review.
All of our food is prepared on shared equipment. We do our very best to limit contact, but we are not a nut-free or wheat-free facility and cannot guarantee non-contact with these items.
If an entree sounds particularly yummy or if I’m entertaining, can I order more than one?
You can order as many of a particular item as you’d like! That’s the beauty of our a la carte structure.
Can I reschedule my order if “life” happens?
If you cannot pick up your order on the specified day, we recommend you contact our Switchin’ Kitchens staff within 48 hours of the pick up time so we can reschedule for a different time/day of that same week.
Can I cancel my order?
You can cancel your order up to three days prior to your pick up time and will receive a complete refund. If you cancel fewer than three days prior, you will be refunded your total amount less a $30 cancellation fee.
What methods of payment do you accept?
In store, we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Amex, cash, debit cards, and personal checks. Online, we do not accept Amex. There is a $15 charge for returned checks.
How far in advance do I need to schedule my order?
Our order calendar closes at 5 p.m. daily for the next day’s pick up. Orders received by 5 p.m. can be ready for the following afternoon. The calendar also closes when the allowable number of orders per day are filled. Please note we do not process fresh orders on Saturday through Tuesday.
How often do the menus change?
We offer a new entrée menu each month with 12 to 14 selections. These entrees are tailored to the season with lots of grilling in the summer and a focus on casseroles and crock pots in the winter. The monthly entrees are made-to-order so they will be fresh when you pick up your order (with the exception of shrimp and fish entrees). We also have items available all the time in our fully stocked Grab-N-Go freezers.
What if I love an entrée and want to have it again after the menu for the next month starts?
You can check with us to see if we have availability in our freezer inventory. We will keep entrees from the prior month’s menu on hand for immediate sale until supplies are depleted. All other categories are available frozen all the time.
What should I do in preparation of my order?
You should make sure you have ample freezer space for the entrees you’ll be bringing home. Depending on the number of meals you order, you’ll need between 1 and 1½ shelves to accommodate your food.
How do I place an order?
You can order three ways: use our online order process, call the Switchin’ Kitchens store and we’ll take your order over the phone, or you can visit our store and we’d be happy to place your order while you’re there.
Do I have to place an order ahead of time?
No! Come in and shop our fully stocked freezers. You can purchase one item or dozens, no minimums, no limits! If there is a particular item you really want, then it’s best to place an order for pick up the following day.
Can I come in and assemble my meals?
No, we provide the assembly of all items at no additional charge to you.
How long do the meals last in the freezer?
From a food safety stance, they can last indefinitely. From an appearance/taste stance, three to four months is recommended. Many items can last up to six months.
What’s the safest way to thaw my meals?
The best approach is to plan ahead. Take dinner out the night before and thaw it in the refrigerator overnight. It will be ready to cook when you arrive home from work or after a day of taxiing the kids around.
Are there any items that can be made from frozen?
We do have several items like our quesadillas, Potato Crusted Cod Fish and our Take & Bakes.
